On The Way

fisherman's bastion, Budapest, Hungary, travelOn the way to the Fisherman’s Bastion, on the Buda bank of the River Danube,   you can ride in a beautifully decorated old,  wooden elevator to the top of Castle Hill. I took these photos as we slowly made our ascent. In the distance, you can see one of eight very different bridges that span the Danube.218 215

    • Thanks, Dave. The snow had a lovely effect, visually. I only had my mobile phone with me. The camera in it is okay, but not great. I must learn how to use my husband’s super-macro-optical-zoom-but-too-complicated-for-me Olympus. 😉

Great photos, Jean (I’d have had white knuckles, terrified that the funicular would slide back down…..). Did you get to any of the thermal springs/baths in Budapest and would you recommend it as a place to spend a few days?

    • Funicular! That’s the word I tried to recall when I described the elevator. It wasn’t that scary, I was too busy photographing the fabulous view, my phone camera doesn’t do it justice. I would definitely recommend a city break to Budapest, but you would need at least four or five days, there’s so much to see. We decided against the baths, as we only had a few days there. We did go to visit one of them, but opted for hot chocolate instead (it was January, after all, lol).
