The face of mischief, mayhem and merriment. A toddler with a cheeky grin and a larger than life personality. This photograph of my mother was taken about 77 years ago and it’s one of my favourite images in our family album. I have even used it on one of my book covers. I reckon she must have been a handful, although she claims to have been an angel of a child. It’s the glint she still has in her eyes that makes me doubtful but I wouldn’t change her for the world. Love you, Mum.

It IS a cheeky grin. I agree, I see the mischief 🙂

I would love to go back in time and see what my grandparents had to put up with. 🙂

Any photo from a time period when photos were fairly rare is a treasure, but this one takes the cake. I can see why it’s a favourite. (and wow does your mother look good)

One of my sisters and one of my daughters have the same grin – it used to get them into trouble with some of their teachers, even when they weren’t up to any mischief.

What a lovely tribute to your Mom, Jean! She certainly does still have that sparkle in her eye. She looked full of devilment as a child, a strong character I’m sure.

Thanks, Ali. She’s in her eighties but only in body – much younger in spirit. 🙂

I’m ever amazed at how the child can still be seen in the adult. There is a young girl here on the island that has a similar grin, very infectious! Lovely to honour your mum this way. Xx

I always marvel at how we can see the adult in the photographs of the child. What’s even more amazing is how grandchildren and great-grandchildren can look so similar to those old photographs, too. 🙂
