Ireland’s capitol city, Dublin, has a reputation for having colourful doors but this week’s Thursday Doors will show that there are other places with a fine selection on offer.
They might not be as grand as Dublin doors but the portals of Dundalk in county Louth are just as interesting. Many of them are separated by archways that enabled coaches to access stables at the rear of the properties, back in the old days.
Thanks for stopping by this week. For a great selection of international Thursday Doors have a look at the links on the comments of Norm’s ‘door’ post.
I love that yellow door and the photo of the car going down that narrow roadway.

Talking about color, the first one is my favorite! You found so many doors, Jean! You probably also had more time, not driving by, but walking?
I put out that reminder because at my work it was every year a crazy overwhelming, and exhausting month, all with people who could not hold it together anymore. So, it’s nice when some who are in good spirits, share the load.

People get so stressed this time of year. Sad that it’s become like that.

I love the archways! Amsterdam has some leftovers of those days too, but people don’t realise that’s what they are. That’s because you can’t even see there are gardens behind the houses on the canals I think, they just look like normal (but very wide) doors now.

I think it’s the arch that gives them the historic look, Angela.

Those archways are marvellous – in fact they looked like a ‘before’ and ‘after’ spruce up:)).

Loving those two last doors, where you see the back apartment or parking, whatever it is. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

What you see at the back used to be stables but they’re often converted to another use, like an apartment or garage.

The arched doors …the one in green is lovely! My favorite color and with that little red car down the land in between is fabulous! Good eye spotting it and the other doors.

Sedalia has 1 “covered alley” as they refer to it here. Many highschool seniors have their photos taken there. Love that old architecture.
